Saint Vincent College’s student Environmental Awareness Club will host its first event on the issue of extraction of shale gas and its impacts on public health and the environment at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 at the Fred M. Rogers Center on the campus of Saint Vincent. Admission is free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required.

Fracking and Your Health: Public Health Perspectives will be presented by Greensburg physician Dr. Ralph Miranda who will moderate a panel discussion featuring Nadia Steinzor of Earth Works, Raina Rippel of Southwest Pennsylvania Environmental Health Project and Linda Headley, a leased landowner from Fayette County.

The speakers will address impacts of fracking and how citizens can protect themselves by limiting the pathways of exposure associated with shale gas extraction.
