Vocal quartet OC Times will open the 2013-2014 Saint Vincent College Concert Series at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 7 in the Robert S. Carey Student Center Performing Arts Center.
Winner of the 2008 Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Quartet Championship, OC Times members include Shawn York, tenor; Sean Devine, lead; Pat Claypool, baritone; and Cory Hunt, bass.
Inspired by artists like Michael Bublé, Frank Sinatra and Elvis, OC Times breathes new life into swing standards, rock and roll classics and favorites from a variety of other genres. They take barbershop harmony back to where it started over a century ago: pop-culture. They have been featured in major publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Saturday Evening Post and SPIN magazine. The quartet is also featured prominently in a documentary film entitled “American Harmony.”
Their first studio album, “Let’s Fly” (2007), received critical acclaim and won the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards for both Best Barbershop Album and Best Barbershop Song.
OC Times has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, as well as in Japan and New Zealand, and they have performed in such prestigious venues as Los Angeles' Disney Concert Hall and New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center. Their website, is www.octimesquartet.com.
